Dear Paul,
  It was great to hear from you and I’m very glad to tell you something about Beijing Olympic Mascots.
  There are 5 Friendlies, or Fu Wa in Chinese, to serve as the Mascots for Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Designed to express the nature of Chinese children, the 5 doll-like Friendlies are symbols of four popular animals—the Fish, the Panda, the Tibetan Antelope, the Swallow-and the Olympic Flame. Each of the Friendies has a Chinese name—Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying and Nini. When we put them together, they say Bei Jing Huan Ying Ni, or "Welcome to Beijing!" in English. These lovely dolls show us the Olympic spirit of universal friendship, and they each represent one of the following—the sea, forest, fire, earth and sky. As you cad see, their colours have something to do with the 5 colours of the Olympic rings.
  I really hope you may come to Beijing in 2008! Certainly I' I1 be your company then!

One possible version:
     With the development of the Internet, more and more people tend to send electronic cards instead of paper ones at festivals’ time. Compared with the traditional ones, electronic cards are more interesting and lively, for you can get not only pictures but also sound. Besides, it’s faster to send an electronic card and it can save money. There are many web sites on line where different varieties of cards are available. If none of these cards are of any interest to you, you can design cards of special style. More importantly, with the popularity of electronic cards, less paper is used for making paper cards, which contributes to the environment protection.

One possible version:
    When she was in the ninth grade she felt so fired of her lessons that she could hardly pass any test. One day she was complaining to her classmate about another failure in a test when she suddenly saw a young lady passing by with her baby in a cart. The baby was sitting in it, enjoying his pacifier. Li Mei admired the baby very much. She thought to herself that she needn’t have gone to school if she had been a baby forever. Just at the moment her classmate asked her to see where the baby was going; To her surprise he was sent to the Training Center for Supernormal Children. What she saw made her realize that even babies were expected to learn something, let alone a student like her. From then on, she began to work hard in all her classes. Now she believes that if she wants to be useful to the society, she has to study well.
